Grande Conche
The long crescent beach wraps around the town centre in one smooth curve. It is the defining shape of Royan when seen from above.

Royan Map Poster & Print
Royan sits where the Gironde estuary meets the Atlantic, on the coast of Charente-Maritime. From above, the town is shaped by water. A broad crescent of beach, the Grande Conche, curves in front of the centre, and smaller coves and headlands continue along the shore. The estuary opens wide to the south, and a ferry route crosses it to the Médoc.
Much of central Royan was destroyed by bombing in 1945 and rebuilt in the following years in a bold modernist style. This postwar plan shows on the map as a wide, orderly street pattern behind the seafront. Its best-known landmark is the concrete church of Notre-Dame. Beyond the rebuilt centre, older villa neighbourhoods and pine woods stretch along the coast.
A Royan map poster pairs the clean curve of the Grande Conche with the geometric plan of the rebuilt town. In black and white, the estuary and ocean become a large calm field, and the coastline is the strongest line on the sheet. It is a coastal map that feels open and architectural at the same time.

Rebuilt modernist centre
After the 1945 bombing, the centre was replanned with broad, regular streets. That postwar order is easy to spot against the looser coastal suburbs.
Gironde estuary
The widening estuary fills much of the frame to the south. It gives the poster a large, calm open area and a sense of the Atlantic just beyond.

Waarom Royan
Een kaart met betekenis
Royan is a place of family summers, beach holidays and slow afternoons by the estuary, and many visitors come back for years. A map of the bay and the rebuilt streets keeps that coastline on the wall all year round.
Personalise the title, the subtitle and the coordinates line, for example with the year of a first holiday. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Buy it as $9 HD files in six print sizes or as a printed matte poster, framed if you like.
