Main road spine
The highway through town is the most important line on the map. The grid grows from it on both sides and gives the poster a clear central axis.

São Mateus do Maranhão Map Poster & Print
São Mateus do Maranhão lies in the interior of Maranhão in northeastern Brazil, on the low, open plains south of the state capital. The land is flat and largely agricultural, and the town has grown along the main road that connects it with the rest of the state. From above, its plan is a practical grid of blocks that extends outward from the highway.
The grid is loose rather than strict. Blocks vary in size, streets narrow and widen, and at the edge of town the pattern turns into lanes and tracks leading out to farmland. Local watercourses and low-lying land interrupt the layout in places, leaving open gaps that give the map some variety. It is the kind of town common across inland Brazil.
A São Mateus do Maranhão map poster gives that everyday layout a quiet dignity. The composition is simple: black streets on an open field, with the main road running through them. It suits anyone with family roots in the town, or anyone who has left for the city and wants a reminder of home.

Loose town grid
The blocks are regular in intent but vary in size and alignment. That slightly irregular grid gives the print a handmade look rather than a mechanical one.
Open edges
At the edge of town, streets fade into tracks leading to fields. Wide pale margins frame the settlement and emphasise how flat and open the surrounding land is.
