Main road spine
Most of the town lines up along one main road, with shorter streets branching off on either side and giving the map a clear central axis.

Shakiso Map Poster & Print
Shakiso sits in the Guji Zone of southern Oromia, in hilly, well-watered country far to the south of Addis Ababa. On a map, the town is a modest cluster of streets around its main road, and the built area quickly thins into tracks that follow ridges and valley floors. The ground is uneven, so roads rarely run straight for long and the outline of the town stays loose and organic.
The area is best known for gold. The Lega Dembi mine lies nearby, and small-scale mining has long been part of local life, drawing people from across the region. Guji is also one of Ethiopia's well-regarded coffee-growing areas, and much of the land beyond the edge of town is smallholder plots and forest.
A Shakiso map poster turns this working town into a clean line drawing. The central road reads as a spine, side streets branch off at irregular angles, and the network fades into the hills around it. It is a sparse, honest portrait of a working town, and the empty space on the paper says as much about the landscape as the lines do.

Hill-following tracks
Beyond the centre, paths curve with the terrain, tracing ridges and valleys rather than a grid, and draw thin, wandering lines across the page.
Open surroundings
Wide areas of farmland, coffee plots and forest leave generous white space around the town, which makes the pattern of streets stand out clearly.
