Shimla Map Poster & Print
Shimla sits along a series of ridges in the Himalayan foothills of Himachal Pradesh. Its streets follow the contours of the steep slopes, winding and doubling back, with buildings stacked in terraces on either side. From above, the city forms a long, irregular band along the high ground.
Shimla was the summer capital of British India, and the heart of the town still reflects that period. The Ridge, an open space at the top, is lined with colonial buildings, including Christ Church. Below it runs the Mall Road, a pedestrian street of shops and cafés.
