Tiverton Map Poster & Print
Tiverton lies in mid Devon, in the valley of the River Exe, where the smaller River Lowman joins it. The old town centre sits on the ground between the two rivers, and bridges cross to the western side. On a map the water, the steep valley sides and the main roads give the town a clear, slightly angular structure.
The town grew as a wool and later lace-making centre, and the remains of Tiverton Castle stand above the Exe. To the east, the Grand Western Canal begins at a basin in the town and runs off toward Somerset. A Tiverton map poster follows its quiet line along the hillside.
Blundell's School, founded in the early 17th century, occupies grounds on the eastern side of the town. Newer residential areas spread up the valley slopes. In monochrome, the rivers, the canal and the curve of the streets combine into a detailed but readable composition.

Grand Western Canal
The canal starts at a basin in Tiverton and follows the contour of the land eastward, a narrow and very smooth line across the map.
Valley slopes
Residential streets climb the sides of the Exe valley in winding patterns. They frame the flatter centre along the rivers.
