Vāzhakulam lies in Ernakulam district, in the gently rolling land east of Kochi near Muvattupuzha. Like many Kerala towns, it has no hard edge on a map. The town is best known for pineapple. Vāzhakulam pineapple is a recognised regional product with geographical indication status, and the area around the town is one of Kerala's main growing belts.
