Clock tower junction
The small clock tower marks the heart of the old centre, where the main streets meet. It serves as a natural reference point on the map.

Victoria Map Poster & Print
Victoria lies on the northeast coast of Mahé, the largest island of the Seychelles, and is one of the smallest capital cities in the world. Strong contrasts frame its map. Steep granite mountains rise behind the town, a narrow strip of flat land runs along the coast, and the harbour opens toward a group of small islands a short distance offshore.
Much of the seafront is built on reclaimed land. On the map this shows as straight shorelines, port basins and wide roads along the water. The older centre sits just inland, where a handful of streets meet around a small silver clock tower. The tower was installed in 1903 as a copy of a clock in London. Beyond the centre, roads climb into the mountain valleys.
The islands offshore belong to the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, and their rounded outlines fill the sea beside the harbour. A Victoria map poster places a small capital in that setting: a compact street network between mountain and water, a planned modern waterfront and a scatter of islands, drawn in clean, understated lines.

Reclaimed waterfront
Straight edges, port basins and broad coastal roads mark the land added to the seafront. They give the eastern side of the map a planned, geometric look.
Sainte Anne islands
A group of small islands lies just offshore within a marine national park. Their rounded shapes break up the open sea in front of the harbour.

Waarom Victoria
Een kaart met betekenis
Seychellois families, people who have lived on Mahé for work and travellers who passed through on the way to the outer islands all hang Victoria. Mountain edges, a straight reclaimed coast and offshore islands give the map an unusual balance.
