The long shoreline
The town follows a gently curving beach. The coast makes a single clear line down the map, with streets arranged along it rather than behind it.

Vilankulo Map Poster & Print
Vilankulo is on the coast of Inhambane Province in southern Mozambique, facing a sheltered stretch of the Indian Ocean. On a map, the town runs along the shore rather than inland. Sandy tracks and a small number of paved roads connect its neighbourhoods, which spread thinly back from the water's edge.
The coastline is the main feature. At low tide, wide tidal flats appear, and offshore lie the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago, for which Vilankulo is the usual point of departure. Traditional dhows sail between the town and the islands, and the long curve of the beach gives the map a strong, simple outline.
A Vilankulo map poster is mostly a portrait of a coastline, with a light layer of streets set against the sea. That balance works well in black and white. The land holds fine detail, while the water is left open and quiet. It suits anyone who has left from this shore for the islands, or who has spent time in the town.

Tidal flats
Shallow water and sandbanks lie off the town's edge, where the shoreline is soft and changing. It is a quiet transition between land and open sea.
Gateway to Bazaruto
Vilankulo is the usual starting point for trips to the Bazaruto Archipelago. On a wider frame, the islands can appear offshore across the channel.

Waarom Vilankulo
Een kaart met betekenis
Vilankulo tends to be remembered for a particular trip, a dive, a dhow crossing or a long stay by the sea. A map of the coast is a restrained way to keep that memory. It sits comfortably in a bedroom or a sunlit living room.
You can write your own title and subtitle, for example the dates of a trip, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
