Illawarra Escarpment
The steep, bush-covered wall to the west appears as a clear limit to the street pattern, with only a few roads climbing toward the plateau above.

De kaart
Wollongong Map Poster & Print
Wollongong is shaped by two walls. To the west the Illawarra Escarpment rises steeply, dark with forest, and to the east the Pacific Ocean runs along a chain of beaches and rocky points. The city fills the narrow coastal plain between them, a ribbon of suburbs stretching north and south of the central business district, held together by the railway and the main coastal road.
The centre sits near a small harbour and headland, where lighthouses stand above Flagstaff Point. To the south, Port Kembla's steelworks and port have long anchored the local economy, and beyond them Lake Illawarra opens behind the coast. Up north, the Sea Cliff Bridge carries the road out over the water along a stretch of sheer cliffs.
Because of that shape, a Wollongong map poster works well in portrait: sea on one side, escarpment on the other, city in between. Buy the $9 digital HD files, with six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, or order a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame from print partners in more than 30 countries.

Coastline and beaches
An almost continuous line of beaches, headlands and rock platforms runs the full length of the city, broken by the harbour and small creek mouths.
Lake Illawarra
South of the centre, this large coastal lagoon spreads inland behind a narrow entrance, adding a broad area of water to the lower part of the map.

Waarom Wollongong
Een kaart met betekenis
Wollongong draws people for its university, its beaches and a coastline that feels far from Sydney despite being close. A map on the wall is a reminder of the escarpment at your back and the sea in front, whether you still live there or not.
Change the title, add a subtitle with a suburb or date, and set your own coordinates line. Five styles are available, and Blueprint or Classic black & white suit the coastline, while Sand gives it a softer, beach-house feel.
