Xinglong Map Poster & Print
Xinglong lies in the hilly southeast of Gansu Province, in the rugged country where the loess uplands meet the western ranges of the Qinling. In terrain like this, settlements follow the valleys, and on the map the town stretches along lower ground with steep slopes rising on both sides.
The result is a narrow, elongated street pattern. A main road follows the valley floor, smaller lanes branch off where the land allows, and the surrounding hills are cut by switchback tracks and terraced fields. The geography shows clearly in the map even without contour lines, because the roads can go only where the slopes permit.
A Xinglong map poster captures a type of place common in China's interior and rarely seen on a wall: a town shaped by its valley. In black and white, the long, dense core and the thin winding lines climbing the hills make a restrained, directional composition.

Hillside switchbacks
Tracks zigzag up the surrounding slopes, drawing fine, looping lines that show how steep the ground is.
Terraced fields
The farmed slopes around town are stepped into terraces, adding a layered texture to the rural edges of a wider frame.
