Yogyakarta Map Poster & Print
Yogyakarta is planned around an imaginary line. The Kraton, the sultan's palace, sits at the centre of an axis that runs north through the Tugu monument toward Mount Merapi and south toward the Indian Ocean. This cosmological axis was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023, and on a map it shows as a straight spine through the city.
The walled Kraton compound forms a large rectangle in the south of the centre, with public squares, the alun-alun, to its north and south. Malioboro Street leads north from the palace area toward the station and the Tugu. Yogyakarta is also the seat of a Special Region where the sultan serves as governor, a rare case of royal authority continuing into the present.
A Yogyakarta map poster shows how this formal plan meets a dense, organic city. Around the straight axis, neighbourhoods known as kampung fill in with narrow lanes. Several rivers, among them the Code and the Winongo, cut north–south channels through the urban area. The palace's walled rectangle and its squares remain the anchor of the composition.

Waarom Yogyakarta
Een kaart met betekenis
Yogyakarta holds a strong place in the memory of students, travellers and families across Java, and its axis gives the map a quiet symmetry that works well in a frame. Add a personal title and subtitle, perhaps a year of study or a wedding date, and adjust the coordinates line.
The map comes in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper and Sand give it a softer, warmer look. Digital files cost $9 for six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
