Zahirābād sits on the high, gently rolling Deccan plateau in western Telangana, close to where the state meets Karnataka. From above, the town reads as a dense core of short, irregular lanes that thins quickly into fields, with a major highway running through it. That highway shapes the whole plan, pulling shops, workshops and newer neighbourhoods into a long band on either side of the road.
The town has an industrial side. A large vehicle and tractor plant operates on its outskirts, and the surrounding area has been set aside for further manufacturing, so the map shows broad factory blocks and service roads next to much finer residential streets. That mix of scales, plots measured in hectares beside houses measured in metres, gives the drawing an unusual texture.
