Salt Creek
The creek meanders through the village, bordered by parks and open land. Its winding course makes a natural counterpoint to the straight arterial roads.

Addison Map Poster & Print
Addison is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, a short distance west of Chicago and close to O'Hare International Airport. Its map is typical of the region's postwar suburbs. There are curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs, long straight arterial roads on the Midwestern mile grid and large blocks of warehouses and industrial buildings.
Salt Creek winds through the village from north to south, and its looping course and the green spaces along its banks break up the street pattern. Parks and forest preserve land follow the creek, giving the map a soft green line through the middle. Major expressways run along the edges and connect Addison to the rest of the metropolitan area.
An Addison map poster shows how a suburb organises itself. The arterial grid provides structure, subdivisions fill the spaces with rounded, looping streets, and industrial parks form broad, simple shapes. Salt Creek ties it together. The overall effect is orderly but varied, and it makes a surprisingly graphic print.

Subdivision curves
Residential areas are laid out in looping streets and cul-de-sacs. In black and white they form rounded, almost decorative patterns between the main roads.
Industrial blocks
Large warehouse and business parks occupy broad parcels of land. Their simple, rectangular footprints give the map areas of calm geometry beside the housing.
