Afipskiy is an urban-type settlement in Krasnodar Krai, a short distance southwest of Krasnodar. It sits on the flat Kuban lowland, near the river Afips, from which it takes its name, and not far from the Kuban river itself.
On the map, the settlement shows a regular grid of streets, blocks of private houses in long rows, with a few areas of apartment buildings. To one side lies a large oil refinery, whose tanks, pipes and service roads form a very different pattern: dense, geometric and industrial, clearly separated from the residential streets.
