Aglantziá is a municipality on the southeastern side of Nicosia and part of the capital's continuous urban area. Its streets rise gently toward the east. Homes are laid out in a loose suburban pattern rather than the tight curves of the walled old city nearby. Main avenues run toward central Nicosia and link the district with the rest of the island.
Much of Aglantziá's character on the map comes from its open spaces. The Athalassa forest park, a large area of planted pines with a reservoir, fills the southern side. The main campus of the University of Cyprus is also here. To the north the municipality reaches the UN buffer zone that divides the island, and the street network simply stops at its edge.
