Aldaia lies in the western part of the Valencia metropolitan area, in the comarca of L'Horta Oest. On a map it is a dense town of narrow streets around an old centre, surrounded by newer housing blocks and industrial estates. Motorways and rail lines pass close by, linking it to Valencia and to the interior.
The town sits on the edge of the huerta, the irrigated farmland that has surrounded Valencia for centuries, and small fields and irrigation channels still appear between built-up areas. Aldaia has long been associated with the craft of hand-made fans, a tradition that shaped local industry.
