Antrim is a town in Northern Ireland, on the Six Mile Water close to where the river flows into Lough Neagh, the largest freshwater lake in the British Isles. The town's name comes from an early monastic site. A tall stone round tower from that monastery still stands in the town, one of the best-preserved in Ireland.
From above, the lough's broad shoreline is the largest shape in any wide view of Antrim. The river curves through the town past Antrim Castle Gardens, a formal seventeenth-century landscape with long canals and avenues. The older High Street area sits near the river. Later housing estates and ring roads spread out around it, and main roads head toward Belfast and Ballymena.

Six Mile Water
