Athis-Mons lies in Essonne, south of Paris, on the edge of the plateau that looks down over the Seine valley. On a map the town is shaped by a strong difference in level. The eastern side follows the Seine, near where the smaller Orge river joins it, while the western part rises toward the plateau and the large open area of Orly airport.
