Balussheri lies inland from Kozhikode in northern Kerala, in the rolling midland country between the coast and the Western Ghats. Its map is not a grid. Roads follow ridges and valleys, curving around low hills, and houses spread along them among coconut palms, areca and small fields.
The town centre sits where several main roads meet, forming a small commercial knot from which routes lead toward Kozhikode and surrounding villages. Away from the junction, the pattern loosens into scattered lanes and footpaths that reflect the dispersed settlement typical of rural Kerala.
