Bibā is in Beni Suweif governorate, in Middle Egypt, on the west side of the Nile. From above the Nile Valley here is a narrow strip of irrigated land. The river runs along one side, desert plateaus rise beyond the fields, and the town sits in between.
As in much of the valley, the main railway and the highway between Cairo and Upper Egypt run north to south close to the river. The town has grown in a long band along them. Irrigation canals divide the farmland into small parcels, and villages are strung along the waterways.
