Buikwe is a town in Uganda's Central Region, the administrative centre of the district of the same name, lying between Kampala and Jinja. The district reaches south to the northern shore of Lake Victoria, and the landscape around the town is lush and gently rolling, with farmland, patches of forest and large agricultural estates.
The town itself is modest in size, with a small central street network gathered around its main roads and markets. Beyond the centre, lanes and tracks spread outward to villages and cultivated plots, forming a loose, organic pattern shaped by hills and valleys rather than by planning. Wetland valleys, common across this part of Uganda, add soft gaps between the built-up areas.
