Cereté is a town in the Colombian department of Córdoba, in the fertile lowlands of the Sinú River valley, north of the departmental capital, Montería. From above, the town has a regular grid of streets around a central square, surrounded by flat farmland crossed by water channels, creeks and roads leading toward nearby towns.
The Sinú valley is one of the main agricultural regions of Colombia's Caribbean area, and Cereté has long been a market town for the surrounding farms, with crops and cattle playing an important role in the local economy. The town is closely connected to Montería, and the road between them is part of daily life for many residents.
