Clermont lies west of Orlando in Lake County, in a part of central Florida that isn't flat. The land rolls in low hills, and lakes are scattered everywhere. On the map, water breaks the town into pieces: Lake Minneola spreads along the northern edge of the old downtown, and a chain of connected lakes runs through the surrounding area.
The historic downtown is a small grid set against the lakeshore, with a waterfront park and trail along the water. Newer subdivisions spread south and east in curving streets and cul-de-sacs, fitted around lakes and former citrus groves. The Citrus Tower, built in the 1950s on one of the highest hills in the area, still overlooks the landscape.
