Conchas lies in the interior of São Paulo state, in agricultural country between the larger cities of the Sorocaba and Botucatu regions. From above, the town is a small, orderly grid. Streets cross at regular angles, a few longer avenues lead out, and the built area ends quite abruptly where fields and pasture begin.
Like many towns in this part of the state, Conchas grew as a service centre for the surrounding farms, and the map shows that relationship clearly. Rural roads fan out from the edges of the town toward the countryside, crossing streams and joining the regional highways.
