Cravinhos lies in the interior of São Paulo state, a short distance south of Ribeirão Preto. The town's streets form a tidy grid of square blocks, with the main church square near the centre. Beyond the edge of town, the land opens into large fields of sugarcane and other crops.
The Anhanguera highway, one of the state's main routes between the capital and the interior, passes close to the town. That link has shaped its growth. Like much of this region, Cravinhos developed with coffee and later sugarcane, and the farmland still stretches out on every side.
