Danzi lies in the hilly country of eastern Chongqing, a landscape of ridges, deep valleys and terraced slopes. In terrain like this, towns take the shape the land allows, and on the map Danzi's streets follow the valley floor in a long, narrow form rather than spreading into a grid.
Roads enter and leave along the valleys, winding as they climb, and smaller paths fork up the hillsides toward farms and villages. The surrounding land is broken into irregular shapes by the contours, and even without relief shading, the curves of the roads reveal how steep the ground is.
