Dhāmnod is a town in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, in the Nimar region north of the Narmada river. It lies on the main highway linking Indore with Maharashtra, and that route is the most visible line on its map, running through the town and giving it a clear axis. Traffic between the plateau and the river valley has long passed this way.
Around the highway, the older part of town forms a close-knit web of narrow lanes and markets, the kind of fine-grained pattern that reads as a dense texture from above.
