Dinskaya is a stanitsa, a traditional Cossack settlement, in Krasnodar Krai in southern Russia. It lies a short distance northeast of the city of Krasnodar, on the flat, fertile plain of the Kuban. From above, the settlement is a wide, regular grid of long streets and deep household plots, surrounded on every side by large rectangular fields.
The stanitsa traces its origin to the Black Sea Cossacks who settled the Kuban at the end of the eighteenth century. Dinskaya carries the name of one of their original kurens, or settlement units. Its broad streets and spacious lots are typical of Kuban stanitsas, which were planned for farming households and livestock.
