El Gara is located in Berrechid Province, in the Casablanca-Settat region, on the broad agricultural plain of the Chaouia inland from the Atlantic coast. On a map it appears as a compact town. It has a denser centre and more loosely built edges, surrounded by fields that are divided into long rectangular plots.
The countryside here is flat and extensively farmed, so the map outside the town is defined by straight lines. There are regional roads, field boundaries and rural tracks leading toward villages and the larger towns of the province. The rhythm is regular and calm, with few natural features to interrupt it.
