Florencia is a municipal town in the northwest of Ciego de Ávila Province, in central Cuba. On a map it appears as a small, compact settlement. A handful of straight streets cross each other near the centre, and roads lead out through cultivated land toward the neighbouring towns.
The countryside here is agricultural and gently rolling, with low hills in parts of the municipality giving the land more relief than the flat sugar plains further east. The town's streets stop where the fields begin, so the built area has a clear, readable outline. From above, its size is easy to take in at a glance.
