Front Royal is the seat of Warren County in northern Virginia, set in the Shenandoah Valley at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The North and South Forks of the Shenandoah River join just outside town, and on the map the two streams curl through the landscape before merging into one.
The town is best known as the northern gateway to Shenandoah National Park. Skyline Drive, the scenic road that runs along the crest of the Blue Ridge, starts at its southern edge, so the map shows the town grid giving way to a single road climbing into the mountains.
