Fulham lies in southwest London, on the north bank of the Thames, where the river bends in a wide curve toward Putney. On a map the district is framed by water on two sides, and inside that curve the streets form a tight, regular pattern of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, crossed by long roads such as Fulham Road and Fulham Palace Road.
Fulham Palace, for centuries a home of the Bishops of London, sits by the river beside Bishop's Park.
