Gostynin Map Poster & Print
Gostynin lies in western Mazovia, between Płock and Kutno, on the Skrwa Lewa river. On the map the town has a compact old centre with a market square, surrounded by newer streets and housing blocks, and a small lake lies close to the centre. Around the town the land soon gives way to forest and scattered lakes.
The castle hill stands above the lake. The former Russian tsar Vasili Shuisky was held captive there and died in 1612. Beyond the town lies the Gostynin-Włocławek Landscape Park, a large area of pine forest, dunes and lakes that draws walkers and cyclists and gives the region its quiet, wooded character.
