Habaswein lies in Wajir County in northeastern Kenya, in the dry lowlands between Isiolo and Wajir. The town grew along the main road through the region, and on a map it appears as a compact settlement in the middle of wide open country, where the lines of roads and tracks matter more than any dense street grid.
The surrounding land is flat and semi-arid, crossed by seasonal watercourses that fill after rains. The Ewaso Ng’iro drains toward this part of the county, where its flow spreads into the Lorian Swamp. From above, that gives the landscape a light, scattered texture rather than hard edges.
