Hattersheim am Main lies in the Rhine-Main area, west of Frankfurt and a short distance from Wiesbaden and Mainz. The town combines three quite separate parts: the core of Hattersheim to the north and the riverside districts of Okriftel and Eddersheim to the south, where the land slopes down to the Main.
On a map the river forms the southern edge. At Eddersheim a lock and weir cross the Main, a clear straight structure on the water.
