Ibiporã lies just east of Londrina in northern Paraná, a region known for its deep red soil and a history of coffee farming. From above, the town has a clear central grid of streets, flanked by newer residential districts. The Tibagi River runs along its eastern side, a broad natural line that marks the edge of the municipality. Highways link Ibiporã closely to Londrina, and in places the two urban areas almost merge.
Like much of northern Paraná, the town grew in the twentieth century as settlers cleared land for coffee and other crops. Today it is part of the Londrina metropolitan region, with industrial areas along the main roads and quiet neighbourhoods set among gentle slopes. Streams cut small green corridors through the urban fabric.
