Idaga Hamus is a town in the highlands of Tigray, northern Ethiopia, in plateau country of fields, dry watercourses and rocky hills. Its name refers to a Thursday market, a reminder that many towns in this region grew around weekly trading days. On a map it appears as a compact settlement strung along a main road.
The street pattern is simple. A principal road runs through the town and carries most of the linework, while short side streets and paths lead from it into residential compounds.
