Ivanovka lies in the Chuy valley of northern Kyrgyzstan, east of Bishkek, on the wide agricultural plain between the Kyrgyz Ala-Too mountains and the Chuy river. On a map the village shows the long, straight streets typical of settlements in this valley, with rectangular plots and houses set along them, and farmland pressing in close on every side.
The main road through the Chuy valley connects Ivanovka with Bishkek to the west and with towns toward Issyk-Kul to the east.
