Jixian Map Poster & Print
Jixian is the seat of Jixian County, part of the Shuangyashan area in eastern Heilongjiang. It lies on the Sanjiang Plain, the great lowland formed by the Heilong, Songhua and Ussuri rivers, much of which was converted from wetland into farmland during the second half of the twentieth century. On a map, the town is a neat block of streets in a very large, very flat landscape.
The town's layout is regular, with straight streets running at right angles and a clear central area around its main avenues. Outside the last blocks, the land is divided into enormous rectangular fields separated by farm roads, drainage channels and rows of trees, patterns that look almost engineered when seen from above.
