Kapsabet is the headquarters of Nandi County in Kenya's western highlands, northeast of Kisumu and southwest of Eldoret. It sits on rolling upland terrain where tea estates and smallholder farms cover much of the land around the town.
The town has a modest central area of streets and market spaces, with government offices and schools set around it. Beyond the centre, the map loosens into a web of rural roads and tracks winding between hills and farms. The Nandi highlands are also known for producing many distance runners.
