Kāttatturai is in Kanyakumari district, the narrow southern tip of Tamil Nadu between the Western Ghats and the sea. The land here is greener and wetter than most of the state, and its settlements merge into one another along roads lined with homes, shops and trees rather than forming tight, separate centres.
