Kedungwaru is a district in Tulungagung Regency, East Java. It lies right next to the regency's main town, on the wide agricultural plain of the Brantas basin. On a map, there is no sharp line between town and village here. Clusters of houses sit along the roads, separated by irrigated rice fields laid out in long narrow plots.
The road network is the main feature of the drawing. Main routes lead toward Tulungagung town, and smaller lanes branch off between the villages, each lane lined with houses and gardens. With volcanic highlands on the horizon and a river system feeding the fields, this is a typical landscape of inland East Java.
