Kingswinford lies in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, on the western edge of the West Midlands conurbation. From above, the town is mostly a large spread of twentieth-century housing estates, each with its own pattern of cul-de-sacs, crescents and curving roads. Older main roads run through them, with a village centre around the historic core.
To the west the map opens out into green belt and farmland, marking the boundary between the Black Country and the Staffordshire countryside.
