Krolevets lies in the north of Sumy Oblast, in the flat, open country of northern Ukraine. Its map shows a historic centre where main roads converge, with residential streets spreading outward in a mix of straight lines and gentle curves. The town has a long history as a market centre and was once host to large annual fairs that drew traders from across the region.
