Kudali is in Kannur district in northern Kerala, inland from the coast. As in much of rural Kerala, there is no single dense centre. Homes are spread among gardens and coconut palms, and the map shows a web of small roads and lanes that branch and rejoin across low hills.
The terrain rises gradually towards the Western Ghats to the east, and streams and paddy land fill the lower ground between the ridges. Main roads carry traffic between the nearby towns, while the smaller lanes follow property lines and contours.
