La Sierpe is a municipality in Sancti Spíritus Province in central Cuba. It lies on the low, flat plain that stretches toward the southern coast. The town is small and laid out on a simple grid, but its surroundings are what give the map its character.
The area is one of Cuba's main rice-growing regions. Irrigation channels and long field boundaries divide the plain into regular strips and plots. From above, it looks like a carefully ruled pattern with only a few roads crossing it and the town sitting in the middle.
