La Trinité lies on the Atlantic coast of Martinique, facing east into the trade winds. The town wraps around a sheltered bay, and just beyond it the Caravelle peninsula reaches far out into the ocean, a narrow finger of land edged by coves, mangroves and headlands. It is one of the most distinctive coastlines on the island.
From above, the town forms a compact strip of streets along the waterfront, with the main road following the curve of the bay and smaller lanes climbing into the hills behind. The peninsula dominates the map, with its irregular outline forming a strong, sculptural shape against the open sea.
