Labranza is a town within the commune of Temuco, lying a short distance west of the regional capital. It has grown quickly in recent decades as families moved out from the city, and the map reflects that: tidy blocks of new housing arranged in regular rows, set against the older pattern of roads and field boundaries that still surround them.
The landscape around it belongs to the broad agricultural basin of the Cautín River, with pasture, crop fields and small woodlands stretching towards low hills.
