Laurel Map Poster & Print
Laurel is a suburban community in Henrico County, just north of the city of Richmond, Virginia. From above, it is a patchwork of residential neighbourhoods, each with its own pattern of looping streets and cul-de-sacs. These neighbourhoods are joined by a handful of straight arterial roads that carry traffic toward the city and the nearby interstates.
A rail line runs through the area, adding a long, firm stroke across the lighter texture of the housing. Shopping centres and business parks along the main roads appear as larger blocks among the finer residential grain. A Laurel map poster captures the character of a well-established American suburb, where the layout reflects decades of gradual growth rather than a single master plan.
Small streams and wooded strips run between some subdivisions, breaking up the built area and adding soft, irregular edges to the composition. The overall effect is calm and balanced, with a contrast between the direct roads and the inward-turning streets of the neighbourhoods, which is typical of many suburbs around Richmond.

Arterial roads
A few straight, busy roads link the neighbourhoods to Richmond and the interstate network, forming the strong framework that holds the layout together.
Wooded stream strips
Narrow bands of woodland along small streams pass between subdivisions, adding irregular, natural lines among the planned residential streets.
