L’govskiy lies in the west of Kursk Oblast, in the valley of the Seym River. From above, the town's streets form a loose grid on the higher ground, with the river winding through a wide, low floodplain nearby. Meadows, oxbows and tree lines along the water make the river side of the map soft and irregular.
The railway plays a large part in the town's layout, with tracks and station areas running across the plan in long, straight lines.
